CONVERTING TO COMMODITY

This a series about the artist’s personal journey into the art market.

The works represent and reflect on:
1. the commodification of ideas: the hammering to make artists pursue a singular subject, style, and/or method.
2. the development of brand: simplifying the artist into a singular packaged concept, and
3. the illusion of prestige: keeping people at a far enough distance to beguile them into believing fictitious representations of artists and their methods.

These works have been made by the artist painting her body or face, then painting the result onto a canvas to create a clear link between her phsical performance work and painting.

She is currently working on extending the project to include more physical performance artists in the series.
